It has been a warm and dry winter so far in Wine Country, and that's always at bit worrisome in California, with the danger of fire ever present.  However, it's also been a great time to ride the gentle and lovely wine roads of Sonoma and Napa counties, and the continuing warm weather promises a great spring and summer of riding adventures.

Corporate Teambuilding in beautiful Sonoma County

Like you, I've been in on my share of teambuilding exercises.  Usually they disappoint with too few real opportunities to share and create cooperation and trust in an exciting environment.

So we've created Sonoma Cycling Events.  For groups and corporate teams interested in beautiful venues, exciting activities, in locations that are close at hand, but seem a world away.

From bicycling on spectacular coastal and redwood-lined roads used by the Tour of California, to intimate wine tasting, and zipling through the redwoods, we handle the destinations and activities that will encourage your team to come together, and work as one.

But action isn't the only lure.  Sonoma Cycling Events offers overnight and dining venues that stimulate the creative process, and get your team thinking out of the box.  Picnics in the vineyards?  Wine tasting at 1400 feet?  If you can imagine it, we can probably provide it.

Give us a call toll free, and find out how our Event Management expertise can make your next retreat one your team will remember.

Join us in California! New Bike Tours of the Wine Country.

Wine Country to Pacific Coast.  The allure of that perfect vineyard inn.  The thrill of a swooping descent through the oaks.

These are all reason why we ride the Northern Calfornia Wine Country.  There's nowhere like it.  And at Sonoma Cycling Adventures...it's our job to make sure individuals and groups of all kinds to enjoy the finest cycling in the world.

One of our newest trips combines the great microbreweries of the region, with a good amount of wine country cruising....ending each day near one of the finest brew pubs California has to offer.  Yes, you have to be 21 to enjoy this one to the utmost...but if you're not...there are some great microbrewed root beers at each stop!

One of the great trends is for companies to forget the old, tired teambuilding model, and put everyone on a bike in breathtaking surroundings.  We host lots of corporate groups from California and elsewhere who enjoy the ambience of the Wine Country, and recognize the cycling, kayaking and zipling opportunities as great ways to build teamwork and reduce employee stress.

Come see us in wine country!  http://www.sonomacyclingadventures.com/

High Gas Equals Good News for Cyclists

OK, I know what you're saying.  High gas prices don't do anyone any good.  Except of course the oil industry.  But read on, and maybe I can change your mind.

First off, we all know that bicycles are the future.  They make environmental sense, they are fun, they are healthy, they create a sense of community with others of like mind, and well...the clothes are cool.

Besides all of that, there is another very real reason why now is the time for bicycles, and for cycling.

What is the greatest fear of most cyclists?  Being hit, of course.  By something big, hard to control, and made of metal.  When you're constantly passed by huge, 6 thousand pound machines that are as wide as your lane, there is little feeling of security.  You're happy to survive those encounters.

But, guess what?  Although rising gas prices drive us all nuts, there is a good side.  Slowly, almost imperceptibly, cars are getting smaller.  Ok, not all of them, and it is a rather gradual process.  But I've already noticed a difference.  And as a cyclist, I know that I'd rather share the road with a Prius, than with a Ford Excursion.

Turns out that all of the major car companies are offering models that look a lot like what they drive in Europe...where the price of gas went north of 8 dollars a gallon quite a while ago.  And just in case you're a bit skeptical (and you have a right to be), and recall how we've downsized before, just to go back to our Yukons and Suburbans....take heart (if you love cycling).  It appears that this time high gas prices are here to stay.  And that means that the smaller, more efficient, increasingly electric and hybrid machines that are beginning to flood the market...may be around for good...this time.

I for one think that's a very good thing.  Not because I don't feel it at the pump.  But because I know that cycling will continue to become a cooler, and safer thing to do.

By the way, as you know, in many parts of the world bicycles are ingrained in the culture.  Check out this cool link to a bike share program in Denver, that may help to bring that about here.  Denver Bike Sharing Program
